Try a platform heel. Sexy platform heels will make you ultra tall but because of the platform in the ball of the foot area, your foot does not have to be at such an extreme arch, often making them more comfortable. Make sure the width of the heel is supportive enough for your event. However, really thick heels can often look less dressy so it may be better to go with a lower heel that is skinnier to keep the look dressy and appropriate.

If the dress shoe hurts when you try it on, it’s not the best for a special occasion. You want to feel comfortable and confident so that you can walk confidently and exude style.

Color matching is not necessary. Remember – you don’t have to match your size 11 dress shoes to your dress. They need to “go” but not necessarily to match. You can pair neutral metallics with many colors, black obviously works well with many colors, jewel tones can be paired with print dresses, with black or with other colors that are complemented by them. Try purple pumps with a red dress or turquoise peep toe heels with a purple or black dress. If you are wearing a very simple or basic dress or pantsuit, try a fun and over-the-top shoe with great texture, color, print, accoutrement or jewels. Don’t make it look like your dress shoes size 11 are an afterthought or picked up from a school marm or matrons closet because you got them last minute. You can find fun, splashy beautiful dress shoes in size 11 or larger on any budget if you just give yourself a little extra time and use the Internet as a resource.
