So, you have found the perfect jewel toned dress shoes size 11 and it was easier than you thought.

Maybe you tried a couple of local shoe stores hoping they might have some basic pumps in size 11. Maybe you tried the big chains like Nordstrom, Target or Kohl’s hoping to find your size in dressy shoes in color that pops. What you probably found were a bunch of dress shoes in size 7, size 8 and even a few women’s size 10 shoes. The size 11 alluded you.

Perhaps you looked on ebay and typed in “jewel toned dress shoes size 11” and got a few things to show up. There may have been a couple of pairs of size 11 vintage shoes but probably not the exact dress heels you were searching for.

However, when you tried some of the excellent online shoe retailers like Zappos or Endless or Barefoot Tess, you had success! It is so easy to search for shoes on these new sites. Both Zappos and Endless Shoes make it incredibly easy and user friendly. You simply had to indicate that you wanted women’s shoes, that you wanted pumps or heels, that you wanted size 11, that you wanted a medium heel or maybe you selected high heel, and from there you were able to narrow it down by color or colors. You could click boxes for red shoes, purple shoes, green shoes, and blue shoes or you could see all of the colors they had available in size 11 heels.

Which color jewel toned dress shoes did you end up with? One line that we have come across and found to be affordable and terrific looking are Jessica Simpson shoes. Let’s use magenta dress shoes as an example. Magenta is a rich, saturated purple-pink color that really makes other colors pop. What are some dress colors that would work well with these fuchsia - purple shoes?

Tons of colors will look fantastic with this color. Try a rich teal or green satin dress, Pair magenta with a red dress, black and white, turquoise, orange, white, and yellow are all colors that are very beautiful paired with a glamorous dress shoe in magenta.

Turquoise and emerald green shoes similarly work well with many colors and add just that contrast and pop of color you want to make your outfit fresh and modern.

You can pair jewel-toned shoes with suits or more businesslike outfits to make them more interesting or to take the work appropriate outfit from day to night or casual to stellar. Anytime you throw on a pair of high heels shoes, you are going to add femininity to an outfit. Unless of course you can’t stand up or walk properly in high heel shoes, in which case they are anything but sexy.

Make sure the style of the shoe works with your outfit. If you are wearing a casual cotton summer dress – use caution when pairing it with a dressy pair of heels even if the colors work together. If the fabric or cut or style of shoe is too dressy for the outfit, it will look like a bad match even if the colors work together. Heel height is one thing to consider. Ruby red slipper flats will look great with many looks from day to evening but if you had a glittery ruby red high heel shoe, it would be inappropriate to pair them with a cotton halter dress in most situations. There are always exceptions to rules and you have to trust yourself and your own personal style.

Work complementary jewel-toned or brightly colored tights into your wardrobe with your bright color pumps. For fall, you can play with color and wear emerald green tights with mustard yellow mary jane high heel pumps to great effect. Done in hot pink satin, they look expensive (they aren't cheap), the heel is the perfect height to wear to a special event so you aren't hobbling by the end of the night. They look fresh, modern and stylish while still being appropriate for many situations.
